Christmas Awake

My first official act in the Church Awake in Herten was the sermon in the Christmas service. The place was packed with nearly 300 visitors and the atmosphere was amazing. Awake The team has done a incredible work that evening. With passion and enthusiasm they have marked an atmosphere in which Jesus was celebrated and the center of attention. I am always fascinated by how hard and how many young people in recent years in their gifts and passions were funded. The result you see now. In the last 7 years Renke piles up the youth work and is now - after he has entrusted to me - he's gone for 4 months in the well-deserved time off to Australia. If I am not mistaken he is doing a surf course in BondiBeach
:-) In my sermon was about the question:
first Why Christmas is really so important?
J ach year, more than 2 billion people celebrate Christmas. 2 days shops are closed and the streets empty. What's up? Is it because there are so many gifts?

It's about Jesus Christ! It comes as a baby to the world - quite spectacular. Christmas was full of Jesus, the descent! (Bible, Philipe 2, 6-11). We want the people on the other hand always improve and "top", and climb on our "ladder of life" ever higher, because we hope to be lucky enough to find satisfaction and meaning in life. Jesus knew that the bill does not rise and has done exactly the opposite - he is descended :
from God to man! A blatant step that we understand as human beings hardly Kö can. Then still more directly to the servant of the people! The next stage was his death. And then he has the last stage of the "ladder of life" has taken and can be tortured to death even by the most brutal death penalty and then. The hardest one knew at the time of execution. On Wednesday, Sandy and I moved from Coesfeld in the pearl of the Ruhr: Herten! :-) There we have a brilliant home based thistles in Herten, in which we feel a fiddle and have set up quickly. Many people have helped us, what have we got. Sunday was my introduction to the Evangelical Free Church of Herten . It was a very cool Worship, Andreas Ullner (pastor of the church) has kept the sermon and even Herten Mayor Dr. Ulrich Paetzel said a friendly greeting. Sandy and I feel in the community very well and have found fast friends. With half a point, I am now here in the community for the Awake -Church, which is the youth of the community, responsible. Renke Bohlen has this fantastic job I from 1 12. may take over, built in the last 7 years. Am really looking forward it.

Youth Days in Marl

On Thursday we went in Marl. The youth group from Simon Decker from the EFG in Marl their town house creative evenings designed for young people. On Thursday I have talked about how we deal with doubt. Does God really exist? Is there really a life after death? These questions are among de n Fri recite every man early he or later deal. You naturally lead to the fact that we think through our beliefs and doubt. why we must all speak clear about this "doubt" and. Friday gins on the topic of suffering. Why is there so much suffering in the world? And how can God allow it? How can there ever be a God when there is so much suffering? But much more important I think the question Is there a God who cares about us? Because if we did not care, it does not matter that it exists - if it interests then?
Saturday then we have talked exhaustively about the meaning of life. What makes my Leb s sense? Why are we here? What is the meaning of life? What is our destiny? I think our lives only a sense if there is one God. Otherwise we are just coincidence a freak of nature and thus a complex mass of cells formed progressive irrelevant. "I do's" - EC Youth Week

"I do's" is a movement that wants to bring in all of Germany Jesus and Christian values back into the conversation. In the last week I was in this context as a speaker Barmstedt in order to carry out the EC- site an evangelistic association for young people. The following issues it went

Sandy and I were housed together in a very nice family and have enjoyed a week together - that was awesome. In time, many young people conscious steps in faith have gone to the individual evenings, it fixed to different actions. to tell young people what it means to live with Jesus, I find just plain cool and I'm glad about every possibility, as here in Barmstedt I have to do so.
