Christmas Awake

My first official act in the Church Awake in Herten was the sermon in the Christmas service. The place was packed with nearly 300 visitors and the atmosphere was amazing. Awake The team has done a incredible work that evening. With passion and enthusiasm they have marked an atmosphere in which Jesus was celebrated and the center of attention. I am always fascinated by how hard and how many young people in recent years in their gifts and passions were funded. The result you see now. In the last 7 years Renke piles up the youth work and is now - after he has entrusted to me - he's gone for 4 months in the well-deserved time off to Australia. If I am not mistaken he is doing a surf course in BondiBeach
:-) In my sermon was about the question:
first Why Christmas is really so important?
J ach year, more than 2 billion people celebrate Christmas. 2 days shops are closed and the streets empty. What's up? Is it because there are so many gifts?

It's about Jesus Christ! It comes as a baby to the world - quite spectacular. Christmas was full of Jesus, the descent! (Bible, Philipe 2, 6-11). We want the people on the other hand always improve and "top", and climb on our "ladder of life" ever higher, because we hope to be lucky enough to find satisfaction and meaning in life. Jesus knew that the bill does not rise and has done exactly the opposite - he is descended :
from God to man! A blatant step that we understand as human beings hardly Kö can. Then still more directly to the servant of the people! The next stage was his death. And then he has the last stage of the "ladder of life" has taken and can be tortured to death even by the most brutal death penalty and then. The hardest one knew at the time of execution.
